Timing relay races & team events

Unfortunately, RaceSplitter doesn’t natively support the timing of relay races or teams.

In order to time such events with RaceSplitter, your race “participants” will be the teams themselves—as opposed to the individual team members—and therefore the required unique bib number will be assigned to the team, and each member needs to be wearing that same number. This implies a number of consequences:

• You can still time the individual legs of a relay race, and RaceSplitter will consider each leg as a different split on the race.
• Only one team member can be participating in the race at a time. If, for example, pairs of team members were running together, then you’d need to choose to time one or the other.
• The published race results will only show the team name, but people can at least view the individual split (relay leg) times.

If you decide to time a relay event, and will be timing each leg, you’ll need to decide whether to time it with a single or multiple devices. To help with that decision, be sure to read the articles about auto-split mode, and timing with multiple devices.
